Football breaks into two National Polls

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University football team broke into two national polls this week, as they are ranked 24th in the American Football Coaches Association poll, while sitting 25th in the D2Football.com Media Poll, as announced by the two organizations on Monday afternoon.

The Greyhounds (7-1, 6-0 NE10) are led offensively by Jay Kastantin, who has racked up 1,642 yards through the air with 18 touchdown passes, while also adding 606 yards and five scores on the ground. Kameron Robbins has been the lead tailback for the Greyhounds, as he had 494 yards and five touchdowns. Connor Smith has been the top target for Kastantin through the air, as he had 25 catches for 500 yards and six touchdowns, while AJ Robinson (18 for 341) and Keith Mancini (22-for-308) have also been go-to targets. 
 
Defensively, Owen Fitzgerald leads the way with 88.0 tackles with seven quarterback hurries and 10.0 tackles for loss, while Nick Smith has 55.0 tackles. Tindell Frick has been harassing the opponents in their back field all season with 12.0 tackles for loss and a conference-leading 9.0 sacks.
 
Assumption will play for the Northeast 10 Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament on Saturday, November 8th, as they travel to take on Bentley at 12:00 p.m.
