Football finishes 2025 ranked No. 24 in AFCA National Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University football team finished the 2025 season being ranked No. 24 in the American Football Coaches Association poll, as announced by the organization on Monday afternoon. 
 
AFCA NATIONAL POLL 
 
The Greyhounds (9-3, 6-1 NE10) finished the year with the most wins since 2017, and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament, where they fell to National Semifinalist Kutztown University. Assumption was led offensively by the 2025 Northeast 10 Conference Most Valuable Player and Harlon Hill nominee Jay Kastantin, who has racked up 1,974 yards through the air with 19 touchdown passes, while also adding 637 yards and five scores on the ground. Kameron Robbins was the lead tailback for the Greyhounds, as he had 868 yards and seven touchdowns. Connor Smith has been the top target through the air, as he had 49 catches for 859 yards and seven touchdowns, while Keith Mancini (32-for-451) and AJ Robinson (29 for 442) have also been go-to targets. 
 
Defensively, Owen Fitzgerald leads the way with 127.0 tackles with eight quarterback hurries and 11.0 tackles for loss, while Nick Smith has 71.0 tackles. Tindell Frick has been harassing the opponents in their back field all season with 14.0 tackles for loss and a conference-leading 11.0 sacks.
 
Assumption cleaned up postseason honors, as they had 15 All-NE10 honors, which are headlined by Jay Kastantin (Most Valuable Player), Jack Driscoll (Offensive Lineman of the Year), Tindell Frick (Defensive Lineman of the Year), and Andy McKenzie (Coach of the Year). Driscoll, Frick, and Kastantin were named to the New England Football Writers All-New England Team. Driscoll, Frick, Fitzgerald, and Smith were named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Super Region Teams, and Driscoll and Frick took home Don Hasen All-American honors.
