Sasha Marino represented the Assumption University women's ice hockey team on the New England Women's Hockey Alliance weekly awards, as announced by the Conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
NEWHA Defensive Player of the Week
Justina Valentini, Assumption
Junior | Defense | Minnetonka, Minn.
The junior defender earned the weekly nod after recording two blocks and two shots against Holy Cross and notching an assist and a plus-one on-ice rating against Merrimack. The assist pushed Valentini's point total to 12 on the season. The Minnetonka, Minn. native is tied for second-most assists in the league with ten.
NEWHA Rookie of the Week
Sasha Marino, Assumption
Freshman | Forward | Westwood, Mass.
The freshman forward from Westwood, Mass., tallied four shots over the weekend, finding the back of the net against Holy Cross for her second collegiate goal. In total, she fired four shots on target and finished with an even plus-minus rating.
