WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University softball team is advancing to the NCAA Division II East Super Regional for the first time in program history, as the Greyhounds will take on the No. 3-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans in a three-game series beginning on Thursday, May 21, at 12:00 pm.

THE SEASON TO THIS POINT
Record: 36-12 (18-2 ECC), 15-2 at home, 16-6 on the road, 5-4 at neutral

• St. Thomas Aquinas reached their first Super Regional after upsetting Adelphi University in the Regional.
• The Spartans had eight representatives on the All-ECC Teams, headlined by Co-Rookie of the Year, Emma Grace Popp, and Coach of the Year Kristen Sullivan. 
• Olivia Leon was named to both the NFCA and D2CCA All-Region First Team, while Sofia Marella was named to the Second Team by both organizations. Emma Grace Popp earned a spot on the D2CCA Second Team All-Region honor. 
• The maroon and gold bring an NCAA Division II-best 21-game winning streak into the next round of the tournament, along with a program record 36 victories.

• Assumption won their first regional championship, as they defeated Caldwell University (7-1) and Mercy University (7-1 and 9-0). 
• The Greyhounds lead the nation with 236 steals, which is the most in Division II since 2014, and are tied with NC. Central (1993) and Norfolk St. (1997) for the ninth most in a single season in Division II history. 
• Maddy Bland and Kaitlyn Cahill both added to their resumes, as they both earned NFCA All-Region honors, with Bland making the first team and Cahill being named to the second team.
