WORCESTER, Mass. – Assumption University Athletics is proud to announce the Hall of Fame Class of 2026, which features David Canny '11 of football, Kiley Colucci '16 of field hockey, Abby Jones '19 of women's track & field, Derek Migrants '10 of baseball, Doug Zielinski '79 of men's basketball, and the Assumption Men's Tennis teams from 1997-2007.
The Class of 2026 represents one of the most decorated groups in department history, featuring All-Americans, conference players of the year, record holders, championship-caliber teams, and student-athletes whose impact continues to be felt across Greyhound Athletics.
"On behalf of Assumption University Athletics, I want to congratulate and welcome this incredible group to the Hall of Fame," said Director of Athletics
Eric Gobiel. "Their accomplishments as members of AU Athletics speak for themselves. They had tremendously impactful and successful playing careers and will now rightfully and officially take their place as all-time Greyhounds."
David Canny '11 – Football
Canny established himself as one of the premier offensive players in Assumption football history. In 2010, he was named the Northeast-10 Conference Offensive Player of the Year and earned All-NE10 First Team honors after a stellar senior campaign. Canny also made history as the first sophomore in program history to surpass 1,000 career receiving yards.
Over 31 career games, Canny totaled 153 receptions for 1,966 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns, including a senior season in which he hauled in nine touchdown catches. A versatile offensive weapon, he also threw for three touchdowns and added 71 rushing yards during his career, cementing his legacy as one of the most dynamic playmakers to wear the Blue and White.
Kiley Colucci '16 – Field Hockey
Colucci concluded her career as one of the most decorated players in Assumption field hockey history. A two-time NFHCA All-American and two-time All-Northeast-10 First Team selection, she was also recognized as a two-time Synapse Sports All-American after leading the Greyhounds offensively throughout her career. As a senior in 2015, she earned First Team All-America honors after leading the team with 21 points, while her junior campaign saw her post one of the greatest offensive seasons in program history with 15 goals, 37 points, and six game-winning goals. Her 37-point season remains the third-highest single-season total in program history.
A four-year starter, Colucci finished her career ranked among the program's all-time leaders with 98 career points (third), 34 goals (fourth), and 30 assists (fourth). She made an immediate impact as a freshman, earning National All-Rookie Team, NE10 All-Rookie Team, and All-NE10 Second Team honors before collecting All-Conference recognition in each of her four seasons.
Abby Jones '19 – Women's Track & Field
Jones enjoyed one of the most accomplished careers in Assumption track & field history, earning four NCAA Division II All-America honors and becoming the first student-athlete in school history to earn two All-America distinctions at the same NCAA Championship. In 2019, she earned First-Team All-America honors in the heptathlon after placing sixth at the NCAA Championships with a school-record 5,070 points, and Second-Team All-America honors in the long jump. A USTFCCCA East Region Field Athlete of the Year, NE10 Field Athlete of the Year, and multiple-time USTFCCCA All-Region selection, Jones rewrote the Assumption record book throughout her career in the heptathlon, pentathlon, hurdles, high jump, and long jump while capturing multiple NE10 championships.
Derek Migrants '10 – Baseball
Migrants was one of the most productive and decorated players in Assumption baseball history. In 2010, he was named the Northeast 10 Conference Player of the Year, Daktronics East Region Player of the Year, First Team All-NE10, Daktronics East Region First Team, and an Honorable Mention All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. He also competed in the New England All-Star Game and entered the season as an NCBWA Preseason All-American.
Migrants was a four-time All-NE10 selection, earning First Team honors in 2009 and 2010, Second Team recognition in 2008, and Third Team honors in 2007. During his senior season in 2010, he led the NE10 in batting average at .425, hits with 79, and on-base percentage at .469, while also capturing the conference's Triple Crown.
He remains one of the top statistical players in program history. Migrants holds the program career records for at-bats with 748, hits with 268, and doubles with 53. He also ranks second in career games played with 191, second in total bases with 395, third in triples with 13, seventh in RBI with 140, and eighth in runs scored with 140. In single-season history, he ranks first in at-bats with 219, first in RBI with 61, tied for first in games played with 55, and twice recorded 79-hit seasons, which rank third in program history.
Doug Zielinski '79 – Men's Basketball
Zielinski was one of the premier players of his era and remains among the top performers in Assumption men's basketball history. Upon graduation, he ranked eighth all-time in scoring and currently sits 35th in program history with 1,138 career points. Zielinski established himself as one of the program's top defensive players, holding the school records for blocked shots in a season and in a career, and setting the program mark for most defensive rebounds in a single game with 17. His all-around impact and lasting place in the record book helped cement his legacy as one of the greats in Assumption basketball history.
1997-2007 Men's Tennis Teams
The Assumption men's tennis teams from 1997 through 2007 established one of the greatest dynasties in Northeast 10 Conference history. During this remarkable 11-year stretch, the Greyhounds compiled an astounding 185-31 overall record and won 95 consecutive Northeast 10 Conference matches from 1998 through 2007.
Assumption captured nine straight NE10 Championships during the era, dominating conference competition by surrendering just a single point across those nine championship matches. Under the leadership of head coach John Ippolito, who was named NE10 Coach of the Year five times, the Greyhounds set the standard for excellence throughout the conference.
The program's success extended well beyond team accomplishments, producing eight NE10 Players of the Year and six NE10 Rookies of the Year while consistently competing among the region's top programs.
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place during Homecoming Weekend on Friday, October 2
