  • Academic Probation - Practice only, no travel and no competition.
  • Condition Enrollment - Lift three days a week only, no practice, no travel, and no competition.
  • Required Withdraw - Removal from roster.
  • Any student-athletes who fall below the 2.00 Cumulative GPA minimum and are enrolled full-time may continue to practice but must sit out of travel and competition until their cumulative GPA is above a 2.00.
  1. Annual Credit Completion Competition Requirement: 9//24 Rule-Student-athletes must complete at least nine (9) credits each full-time semester they are enrolled to be eligible for the next semester, and at least 24 credits total for the calendar year annually (fall, winter, spring, summer) to remain eligible for competition in the following regular semester.

Athletic Scholarships
Athletic Scholarship or Athletic Aid Agreements are signed on a yearly basis with the assumption they will be renewed yearly. It is not guaranteed that an athletic aid agreement will be renewed each academic year. Below is further information on aid reductions, cancellations, and renewals. For more information or questions, please get in touch with your Coach or the Compliance Office.

Reduction or cancelation of aid during the period of the award: Athletic scholarships may be reduced or canceled during the academic year if the recipient:
  • Academic performance
  • Failure to comply with NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Failure to meet NCAA eligibility rules.
  • Failure to comply with any Assumption University policies as outlined in the Assumption University Student Handbook.
  • Failure to comply with the Assumption University Athletic Student-Athlete Handbook.
  • Failure to comply with sport-specific team rules.
  • Failure to uphold the mission and values of Assumption University.
The scholarship renewal shall be made on or before July 1st, before the academic year in which it is to be effective. The institution shall notify in writing each student-athlete who received an award the previous academic year and who has eligibility remaining in their sport whether the grant has been renewed or not for the upcoming academic year.

If your scholarship was reduced or not renewed, you may request a hearing as NCAA regulations provide. To make this request, contact the Financial Aid Office (fa@assumption.edu) within two (2) weeks of the non-renewal or reduction letter date.

Outside Aid Awards
Any student-athletes receiving monetary awards from an outside source (not to include government grants/loans, Assumption University-issued monies, or Assumption University athletic aid must report these awards to the compliance office.  Examples of such awards may include but are not limited to booster club awards, local scholarships, VFW, Church scholarships, etc.

Year-Round Drug Testing
The NCAA randomly selects institutions and student-athletes for drug testing throughout the calendar year, including the summer.  All student-athletes are subject to drug testing before, during, or after their competitive seasons.  All student-athletes must be aware of the banned substance list (found in the workflow in ARMS).

All student-athletes should inform their Assumption University athletic trainer of any/all medications, prescriptions, and over-the-counter supplements/vitamins they are taking.   The FDA does not strictly regulate the supplement industry; therefore, the purity and safety of the supplements cannot be guaranteed, which can lead to a positive drug test.

Sports Wagering
NCAA rules prohibit student-athletes and athletic department staff members from participating in sports wagering. It is impermissible to gamble on any sporting event at any level in a sport that the NCAA sponsors. This includes your cousin's youth soccer game to NFL games. The NCAA defines sports wagering as any activity that involves putting something of value up with the chance to win something in return. Risk + Reward = Violation.  This includes fantasy leagues, DraftKings, FanDuel, and other betting websites. More information can be found here: Don't Bet on It Website
