Worcester, Mass. (May 7) -- On day two of the 2011 Northeast-10 Conference Tournament, the Assumption softball team dropped a 4-0 final to No. 6 seeded Adelphi University at Marois Field. The loss eliminates the Greyhounds, who end the season at 27-18 overall.
After five scoreless innings, the Panthers jumped on top in the bottom of the sixth with all four runs for the 4-0 advantage. Adelphi's first run came on an RBI triple by Shay Craig, followed by an RBI single up the middle by Amanda Krier and a two-run homer by Deandra Leo to account for the 4-0 final. Assumption junior Chelsea Durso (Salem, N.H./Salem) took the loss for the Greyhounds to fall to 11-8 overall, while Leighann Bell went the distance for the Panthers to improve to 16-13.
Freshman Tanya Robidoux (Hooksett, N.H./Manchester Central) had three hits in the loss, along with two hits for sophomore Lauren Medeiros (Seekonk, Mass./Seekonk). Krier was the lone Panther with multiple hits as she had a pair in the victory.
