Box Score Worcester, Mass (October 27) -- The Assumption College women's soccer team defeated Merrimack College behind a goal by senior Erin Kinback (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury), and a shutout by junior goaltender Allison Bruder (Sandy, Utah/Juan Diego Catholic).
The Greyhounds finished the season with a 4-10-3 record, including a 4-8-3 record in Northeast-10 Conference play, as Merrimack falls to 10-7-1 with an 8-6-1 record in league play.
Prior to the game, the Greyhounds honored seven seniors for their contributions to the team. Those being honored were Elizabeth Blasser (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke), Kinback, Nicole Savi (Dedham, Mass./Dedham), Kristin Bateas (Fort Mill, S.C./William Hall), Molly Kessler (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton), Siobhan Brady (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley), and Caitlin Sewall (Portsmouth, R.I./Portsmouth).
The Greyhounds dominated play in the first half, outshooting Merrimack by an 11-5 margin.
Assumption got its goal in the fourth minute, as Kinback controlled a failed clear of a corner and beat the Warrior keeper for her second goal of the season.
Once the Greyhounds held the lead, the team played good possession soccer. Overall the Greyhounds outshot Merrimack 16-7, as Bruder made five saves in the shutout.
