Box Score Easton, Mass. (October 6) -- The Assumption College women's soccer team defeated Stonehill College by a 2-0 decision on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Action at Skyhawk Field.
The Greyhounds improved to 3-5-3 overall and 3-3-3 in Northeast-10 Conference play, while Stonehill falls to 4-3-3, and 3-3-2 in league play.
Senior Molly Kessler (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) had a hand in each of the Assumption goals, while junior goalkeeper Allison Bruder (Sandy, Utah/Juan Diego Catholic)posted six saves to earn her first shutout of the season.
Kessler picked up the assist on the first Assumption goal of the day, before finding the back of the net herself later in the game for three points.
Assumption senior Erin Kinback (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) started the scoring at the 63:53 mark in the game as she headed home Kessler's corner kick into the lower left corner of the net for her first goal of the season.
Kessler extended the lead to two with her third marker of the season in the 67th minute, putting home a cross from senior Kristin Bateas (Fort Mill, S.C./William Hall) from the right flank.
Assumption returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 10 as the Greyhounds will play host to The College of Saint Rose. The game will be the women's soccer Code Blue game, and will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
