Box Score Worcester, Mass. (Sept. 1) -- The Assumption College women's soccer team kicked off its season with a 2-1 loss to Felician College in a non-conference tilt on Saturday.
Felician found the back of the net in minute 82, as Kirsten Mortelliti scored to break a 1-1 tie and give the Golden Falcons an opening day victory.
The Greyhounds outshot Felician, 25-6, while putting 13 shots on net, while Felician only put four shots on target. The Greyhounds also had four corner attempts, while the Golden Falcons had three.
Felician took a lead in the 28th minute, beating Assumption keeper Allison Bruder (Sandy, Utah / Juan Diego Catholic), and carried that lead into halftime.
Bruder finished the game with two saves.
Assumption answered back with a goal of its own at the 75:22 mark, tying the game as freshman Paige Radomski found the back of the net for her first career goal, assisted by senior Molly Kessler (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton).
That set up Mortelliti for the game-winner.
The Greyhounds fall to 0-1 on the season, while Felician improves to 1-0. Assumption will return to action on Sept. 8 to take on Northeast-10 Conference opponent Franklin Pierce University. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Sodexo Field, in Rindge, N.H.
