Boca Raton, Fla. (September 8) -- The Assumption College volleyball team split its two matches against Clark Atlanta and Valdosta State on Saturday at the Lynn University Invitational. Each match was decided in three sets.

The Greyhounds defeated Clark Atlanta by set scores of 25-18, 25-6, and 25-16. Mary Johnston (Pearland, Texas/Glenda Dawson) had a team-high nine kills, while Ann Donahue (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) had eight kills. Sophomore Bizzie Gonring (Whitefish Bay, Wisc./Dominican) had six kills for Assumption.

Junior Kristin Flatekval (Mahwah, N.J./Immaculate Heart) had 23 assists and a team-high nine digs, while Johnston added six digs for the Hounds.

Assumption dropped its second game to Valdosta State in straight sets. Johnston had a team-high eight kills in the second game, while three Greyhounds finished with four kills each. Flatekval passed out 21 assists in the loss.

Assumption finishes the day at 5-5, and will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 11 as the team travels to Stonehill College. The match will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Easton, Mass.
