Clermont, Fla. (March 8) -- After dropping a 2-0 final in game one to Dominican, the Assumption College softball team rallied for a 4-2 win over the Chargers in game two at the NTC Spring Games in regional action on Friday morning.

In game one, the Hounds managed just one hit off Dominican pitcher Delaney Childers on a sixth-inning single from junior Tanya Robidoux (Hooksett, N.H./Manchester Central). The Chargers got all the offense they needed on a two-run shot by Julie Plante in the first for Dominican to jump out to the 2-0 lead. Junior pitcher Jenn Lattal (Windsor, Conn./Windsor) took the loss to fall to 1-5 overall as she allowed just three hits on two earned runs with six strikeouts and no walks in the game.

In the second game, the Hounds again fell behind early as the Chargers struck for two in the second off Assumption senior starter Rachel Hedge (Manchester, N.H./Manchester Memorial). Hedge enjoyed her best outing of the young season for the Hounds as she went five innings, along just one earned run on two hits with one strikeout and four walks. Lattal came in and threw two innings of two-hit relief to set the stage for the Assumption rally in the sixth inning. After a leadoff double down the left field line for Robidoux, senior Melissa Jalbert (Gardner, Mass./Gardner) singled to left to put runners at the corners. After a popout to second, freshman Jess DiPilato (Worcester, Mass./Holy Name) singled to bring in Robidoux. Sophomore Ashley Impagliazzo (Glocester, R.I./LaSalle Academy) delivered the go-ahead hit as she tripled down the left field line to score Jalbert and DiPilato. The Hounds added an insurance run to make it a 4-2 game and Lattal preserved the lead to improve to 2-5 on the season.

Assumption closes out the NTC Spring Games on Saturday night with a doubleheader vs. the University of Bridgeport. The pair of regional games are slated to begin at 5 p.m. and will take place on Field 2 at the National Training Center.
