Worcester, Mass. (April 26) -- The Assumption College softball team lost a 4-0 final to the University of New Haven at Marois Field in Northeast-10 Conference divisional play on Friday.

Senior Melissa Jalbert (Gardner, Mass. / Gardner) led the Greyhounds with a 2-for-4 game in the loss. Junior Jenn Lattal (Windsor, Conn. / Windsor) worked 4.2 innings, giving up four hits and four runs (three earned), while taking the loss for the Greyhounds. Micah Stonesifer threw a game shutout of the season by allowing just three hits and striking out two batters to earn the win.

The Greyhounds had a chance to take the first lead in the first inning as the team collected two hits and a walk to load the bases with one out. Stonesifer got two-consecutive outs to get out of the jam and keep the game tied.

The Chargers scored an unearned run in the third inning and didn't give up that lead the rest of the way as the visitor's added runs in the fourth and fifth innings for the 4-0 final.

The Greyhounds fall to 14-26-1 overall with the loss, including a 7-12 record in Northeast-10 Conference divisional play while the Chargers improve to 14-5 in the Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division.

The two teams will return to action for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 27th at Marois Field. The first game of the doubleheader will begin at noon in Worcester, Mass. Prior to the game the team will honor its senior class for their contributions to the program during their four-year careers.
