Easton, Mass. (March 10) -- Assumption College freshman second baseman Ashley Abad (Bedford, N.H./Bedford) has been named as the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week for her play in a pair of games on Sunday to start the team's Spring trip at the NTC Spring Games.

In a pair of games on Sunday, Abad posted a .500 average that included a two-run home run in her first career collegiate at-bat. In the process, she became just the second player in Assumption history to hit a home run in her first career plate appearance. Abad added two runs scored, one double, one walk and one stolen base as the Hounds split with regional foes Queens and Nyack on the opening day of the season.

Assumption returns to action on Tuesday, March 11th as the Hounds take on Winona State and Northwood (Mich.) beginning at 1 and 3 p.m. on Field 1 at the NTC Softball Complex in Clermont, Fla.
