THE BASICS:

-Location: Worcester, Mass. (Multi-Sport Stadium)

-The Lead: The Assumption College women's soccer team fell to top-ranked Adelphi at home on senior night by a final score of 2-1 Wednesday. The Panthers currently hold the top spot in the Northeast-10 standings with an 11-0-2 record while the Hounds entered the match-up in sixth.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Adelphi took the lead in the seventh minute when the Panthers' Laura Gomez was left alone in the back left corner. Gomez took a long pass, dribbled to the box and shot past Assumption keeper Emily Kuzma (East Haven, Conn. / East Haven) for the 1-0 advantage.

-In the 28th minute, freshman Kallie Villemaire (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) notched the equalizer after several quality attempts from the Hounds. Villemaire took a pass from junior Nikki Callini (West Springfield, Mass. / West Springfield) into the box and shot high. The Panther goalie punched the ball in attempt to save, but it found the bottom right of the net to tie the score.

-The Panthers notched the game winner with just less than five minutes left in regulation on a throughball to the left. Samantha Lanza took a shot from the left that found the bottom right corner of the net for the 2-1 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-Senior Paige Radomski (Kingston, Mass. / Silver Lake Regional) led the Greyhound offense with five shots, three on goal, while Callini followed with two.

-The Hounds were outshot just 13-11 overall including five apiece in the first half.

-In addition to relatively even shot totals, the squads were also even in corner kicks, two, and saves, six.

-Kuzma registered six saves on eight shots in her 90 minutes while Adelphi's keeper, Anne Marie Ulliac posted six saves in seven shots.
