THE BASICS:

-The Lead: The Assumption College women's soccer team earned its second NE-10 victory on Saturday with a 2-1 win over the visiting Saint Anselm Hawks at the Assumption Multi-Sport Stadium. The Hounds return home on Tuesday as they face American International at 7 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Senior Paige Radomski (Kingston, Mass. / Silver Lake Regional) scored for the Greyhounds in the 34th minute to give Assumption a 1-0 advantage. Radomski lined up from 15 yards out on the right and fired into the bottom left of the net. Radomski's goal was assisted by freshman Kiana Rocco (Guilford, Conn. / Sacred Heart Academy).

-Assumption increased its lead to two six minutes into the second period when senior Katie Bealka (Freetown, Mass. / Apponequet Regional) took a placed kick from 23 yards out on the right side of the field. Bealka attempted a cross toward Radomski, but a Hawk defender deflected the ball into the bottom right corner of the net, 2-0 Hounds.

-Saint Anselm decreased the deficit to one in the 82nd minute when Rachel Gillies took a pass from Corey Murray at midfield and shot into the bottom right corner of the net.

BEHIND THE NUMBERS:

-Radomski led the Hounds with five shots in the first period, including one that hit the post and another that sailed just high over the crossbar. Four of Radomski's shots were in the first 20 minutes.

-Assumption outshot the Hawks 15-11 on the day while collecting four corner kicks to Saint Anselm's two. 

-Senior Emily Kuzma (East Haven, Conn. / East Haven) tallied five saves between the posts compared to six for Saint Anselm's Cassie Quattropani.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:

-Radomski's goal marks her second goal of the season while the senior continues to lead the league in assists with five. Radomski is also ranked third in the NE-10 with 30 shots and is tied for first in the nation in assists per game.

-Rocco's assist in the first half of Saturday's game marks the first of her collegiate career.

-Freshman Jessica FitzGerald (Uxbridge, Mass. / Uxbridge) and Radomski rattled off two consecutive shots off of the post just ten seconds apart around the four-minute mark to spark the Greyhound momentum.

UP NEXT:

-The Greyhounds return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 22 when they host American International for an NE-10 match up at the Multi-Sport Stadium. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
