THE BASICS:

The Lead: No. 17 Bridgeport led 2-0 midway through the first half  and Assumption couldn't break through as they eventually fell 4-0 to the Purple Knights on Monday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Bridgeport opened the scoring in the seventh minute and then stretched its lead to 2-0 in the 18th minute on a goal by Idoia Agirre.

- The Purple Knights made it 3-0 midway made it 3-0 in the 25th minute and the score held for the remainder of the period, despite Assumption only being outshot 15-11.

- In the second half, the Hounds kept Bridgeport off the board until late, when the Purple Knights managed a goal in the final 10 seconds of the contest.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Bridgeport held a 30-16 advantage in shots and 10-2 edge in corner kicks as Agirre led the Purple Knights with two goals and one assist. Shannon Colligan added a goal and an assist.

- Nikki Callini (West Springfield, Mass. / West Springfield) and Kallie Villemaire (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) led the offense with four shots apiece. 

- Alexis Nason (Saco, Maine / Thornton Academy) took the loss in net as she made 12 saves in net while allowing four goals in 90 minutes.

- Jennifer Wendelius earned the victory for Bridgeport as she stopped seven shots for a shutout.
