HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME 1 vs. Pace

-Pace got out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Haley Hernandez singled through the right side and advanced to second on a passed ball. She scored when Nikole Larm singled up the middle with one out. Junior Nicole Harvey (South Berwick, Maine / Marshwood) worked out of the inning with two runners in scoring position, retiring the next two batters.

-In the bottom of the second, Pace increased its lead to two after a bunted single put Ashley Lew on base followed by a two-out triple from Larissa Labs to score Lew, 2-0 Setters.

-The Hounds threatened in the top of the third, loading the bases with two outs. After the first two hitters went down, senior Kayli Moniz (Fairhaven, Mass. / Fairhaven) was hit in the helmet by a pitch, followed by a walk from junior Cassie Schultz (Amesbury, Mass. / Amesbury). Junior Ashley Abad (Bedford, N.H. / Bedford) ripped a single up the middle to load the bases before the Pace pitcher closed the inning on a swinging strikeout.

-Pace loaded the bases in the bottom of the third before Harvey was relieved by junior Jurnee Serating-Ware (Hudson, Mass. / Hudson). An illegal pitch advanced the third-base runner across the plate to make it 3-0 Setters before Serating-Ware struck out the second out and third batters to get out of the inning.
