- The Lead: A goal by Amanda Arnold (Saco, Maine/ Thornton Academy) in the 69th minute of play proved to be the difference as the Assumption women's soccer team earned their second conference win, with a 1-0 victory over Saint Anselm on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The teams played to a scoreless first half, with the Hawks actually outshooting Assumption 10-7, though just three of the ten shots were on net.
- The second half remained 0-0 until the 69th minute when Arnold scored her seventh goal of the year. The junior dribbled into the box and put a shot into the lower left corner for the goal, with an assist from Emily Hill (Dedham, Mass. / Dedham).
- St. Anselm couldn't earn a shot the rest of the half against the stout Hound defense, and Hill had a shot hit the post in the final two minutes as Assumption came away with the one-goal victory.
