- The Lead: The Assumption women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Southern New Hampshire tonight in NE10 Conference play, as the Penmen were able to score a first half goal and lockdown defensively for the remainder of the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a back-and-forth first half, Southern New Hampshire got on the board in the 38th minute, as Rianna Fasanello found the back of the net from 35 yards out.
- The Hounds found it to be tough sledding on the offensive side of the ball as they were pitted against the best defense in the NE10 on the road. The Penmen have conceded just eight goals in 15 matches, good for a 0.52 goals against average to go with a NE10 leading nine shutouts.

- Junior Ania Spina (Wallingford, Conn. / Mark T. Sheehan) and freshman Kayla Nixon (Littleton, Mass. / Littleton) each recorded two shots on goal to lead the Hounds, while junior Kallie Villemaire (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) tallied three shots.
- Freshman Katie Hammer (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) suffered her first collegiate loss after starting 2-0 in net.

QUOTE FROM THE COACH:
"I thought it was a really good battle. Southern New Hampshire is a very good strong athletic team and they possess the ball very well. I thought we got a little bit better as the second half went on and had a few more chances and at the end of the day they put the ball in the back of the net and we didn't, but there's a lot of things that we took away is positives as we prepare for our next match." – Head Coach Grace Barnard
