THE BASICS:

- The Lead: Assumption took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute, but New Haven tied it up five minutes later and added a goal midway through the second half to come away with a 2-1 victory at home on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- In the 22nd minute, Ania Spina (Wallingford, Conn. / Mark T. Sheehan) scored off a free kick from 25 yards out to lift the Hounds to a 1-0 advantage.

- New Haven answered with a goal just five minutes later, as Allison Morgan scored at 26:16. The score remained 1-1 until the 65th minute when Emily Morello scored in front, off a pass which was headed to her.

- Assumption had two decent chances to tie in the final ten minutes, as Kallie Villemaire (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) had a shot hit the crossbar and then Sammy Ferrera (Natick, Mass. / Natick) ripped a shot that forced a diving save with just over two minutes remaining.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Assumption totaled more shots in the contest (11-10), and had a 5-1 edge in corner kicks as the team put five total shots on net.

- Alexis Nason (Saco, Maine / Thornton Academy) took the loss as she played 64:17 and made three saves, before being lifted for Katie Hammer (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Harborfields). Hammer stopped one shot in 25:43 of action. Paige Davis earned the win for New Haven as she made three saves in net.
