THE BASICS:

- The Lead: The Assumption College Men's track & field team competed at the Dartmouth Classic today, highlighted by junior Jeremy Alley-Tarter (Oak Bluffs, Mass. / Martha's Vineyard) breaking the school record in the 500 meter run.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Alley-Tarter provided the excitement on the day for the Hounds as the junior set the new school record in the 500 meter run with a time of 1:05.66, good for a fourth place finish. Freshman Max Michaud (Northboro, Mass. / Algonquin) joined Alley-tarter in the event and registered a top ten finish, placing sixth in 1:06.09.
- Freshman Justin Ireland (Norton, Mass. / Norton) had a standout day for Assumption, as he raced to the second best time in the prelims out of 61 competitors in the 60 meter dash, before placing third in the finals with a time of 7.06 seconds. The freshman than placed fourth in the 200 meter dash, clocking in with a time of 22.74 seconds.
- Freshman Kevin Hack (Uxbridge, Mass. / Nipmuc Regional) recorded a top ten finish in the 400 meter dash, finishing tenth with a time of 51.85 seconds. Junior Elijah Fossas (Dudley, Mass. / Shepherd Hill Regional) placed 12th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:00.84, while sophomore Daniel McDermott competed in the 1000 meter run and finished with a time of 2:43.82, good for a 17th place finish.
- In the shot put, sophomore Dillon Bruso (Auburn, Mass. / Auburn) registered a 14th place finish with a distance of 44 feet, 9.75-inches, while junior Dan Tyszka (Coventry, Conn. / Coventry) placed 18th in the weight throw with a heave of 38 feet, 10.25-inches.
- Assumption placed three runners in the top 20 of the 5000 meter run, led by sophomore Andrew Mongiat (Waterboro, Maine / Massabesic) who finished in 14th with a time of 16:35.78. Classmate Joe Baron (Cobleskill, N.Y. / Cobleskill-Richmondville) and junior Jonathan Geromini (Franklin, Mass. / Franklin) finished right behind Mongiat, coming in 15th and 16th place with times of 16:36.22 and 16:40.34 seconds, respectively.
- The 4x400 relay team of Alley-Tarter, Fossas, Ireland and freshman Evan Sperlinga (Wilmington, Mass. / Wilmington) placed eighth with a time of 3:35.20.
