THE BASICS:

- The Lead:The Hounds dropped an 8-6 decision to Holy Family University and then fell 7-2 in an NE10 non-conference contest to Le Moyne to conclude their fifth day of play in Florida.
HOW IT HAPPNED:
GAME ONE:
-The Hounds jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. Senior Ashley Abad (Bedford, N.H. / Bedford) and Kayla Peabody (Mendon, Mass. / Nipmuc Regional High School) each tallied an RBI and scored while Nicole Duplease (Leominster, Mass. / Leominster), Ashley Clark (Pawtucket, R.I. / William E. Tolman) and Cassie Schultz (Amesbury, Mass./Amesbury) also scored.
-Holy Family answered back with five runs in the bottom of the second to tie the game 5-5. Koreen Orozco and Alina Ponce De Leon each tallied two RBI's and scored. In the bottom of the fourth De Leon scored the go ahead run when Samantha Klem reached first on an error.
- In the fifth inning the Hounds tied the game at 6-6 when Schultz doubled to score Peabody.
- The Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the 8-6 advantage and Assumption was unable to mount a comeback in the seventh.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
GAME TWO:
- Clark opened the game hitting a triple, followed by a double from Mirabell to score the first run. Duplease registered a single to force Caitlin Mirabell (Shoreham, N.Y. / Shoreham-Wading River) home for the Hounds to take a 2-0 lead early.
- The Assumption defense remained strong, not allowing Le Moyne to get on the board till the fourth inning, but Madison DeRita singled to score Sabrina Rile to cut the Hounds lead in half at the top of the fourth.
- In the fifth inning the Dolphins scored five more runs, as Kelly Mascari earned a RBI and a run to lead the offense. Le Moyne eventually pushed it to 7-2 as Sabrina Riley hit a sacrifice fly to score Jillian McManus for the last run and the eventual five-run win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- In game one, Kendal Roy (Grafton, Mass./Grafton) earned a stikeout while Abad and Schultz each tallied a double and an RBI.
- In game two, Courtney Oliva (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) struck out three batters while Mirabell registered an RBI and a double.
UP NEXT:
The Hounds close out their Florida trip tomorrow after playing Ashland at 8:00 am and Bridgeport at 1:00 pm.
