- The Lead: Assumption softball tallied two more wins on Monday, shutting out Concordia 7-0 and then scoring six runs in the first against Urbana University on the way to 6-4 win, which vaulted the Hounds to a perfect 4-0 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPNED:
GAME ONE:
- Junior Kendal Roy (Grafton, Mass./Grafton) registered seven strikeouts in a complete-game effort in the opener, giving up just three hits to Concordia in its first contest of the season.
- The Hounds tallied their first run in the third inning when Nicole Duplease (Leominster, Mass. / Leominster) hit a double to drive in senior Ashley Clark (Pawtucket, R.I. / William E. Tolman). Duplease later scored off a single from Stephanie Menard (Cranston, R.I. / Cranston HS West) for the 2-0 advantage.
- In the fifth inning Duplease hit her second double of the game to drive home Caitlin Mirabell (Shoreham, N.Y. / Shoreham-Wading River), who reached base via a double.
- Freshman Ally Hinjosa (Revere, Mass / Revere High School) extended the lead to 4-0 as she scored off a single from senior Ashley Abad (Bedford, N.H. / Bedford).
- Assumption tallied three runs in the seventh inning from Victoria Petrie (Marlborough, Mass. / Marlborough), Kayla Peabody (Mendon, Mass. / Nipmuc Regional High School), and Menard to end the game 7-0
HOW IT HAPPENED:
GAME TWO:
-Clark opened the game with a double, Abad was hit by a pitch and Duplease followed with a single to load the bases. Menard was also struck by a pitch to drive Clark home for the first run. With the bases still loaded, Shelby Lindsay (New Durham, N.H. / Kingswood Regional High School), and Petrie each singled to plate a run Abad and then Duplease. Cassidy Colby (Charlton, Mass. / Shepherd Hill Regional) and Clark also had RBI sinlges in the frame to score Linsday and Petrie for a 6-0 advantage after one inning.
- Urbana fought back with three unanswered runs over six innings while keeping the Assumption offense at bay, limiting the team to just four hits the rest of the game. In the top of the seventh, the Blue Knights added a fourth run but was denied anymore as the Hounds held on for the victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- In game one, Roy only allowed three hits and registered sevenstrike outs to earn her second win this season. Duplease tallied two doubles and two RBI's to lead the Hound offense while Clark and Mirabell each added a double.
- In game two, Ware tallied her second win striking out three batters and allowing ten hits. Clark, Duplease and Menard each recorded a double while Clark led the team in RBI's with two.

The Hounds are back tomorrow to play West Virginia Wesleyan at 10:30 am and then Ferris at 1:00 pm.
