THE BASICS:

-Score: Caldwell 6 , Assumption 1,  (Game One) St. Cloud State 4, Assumption 1 (Game Two)

-Records Game One: Assumption (4-3), Caldwell (1-1)

-Records Game Two: Assumption (4-4), St. Cloud State (13-3)

-Location: Clermont, Fla.

- The Lead: The Hounds were defeated 10-1 by Caldwell to open the day and then dropped a 4-1 decision to St. Cloud State in its second game, on the team's fourth day of play in Clermont, Florida. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Caldwell jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Carly Testa singled to drive in Marisa Monasseri who recorded a double.

- The Hounds only run was scored in the third inning by senior second baseman Ashley Abad (Bedford, N.H./Bedford). She walked to start the inning and Stephanie Menard (Cranston, R.I. / Cranston HS West) doubled her home to tie the game 1-1.

- The Cougars then tallied five unanswered runs after the third inning to put the game out of reach, scoring three in the fourth and two more in the fifth. Assumption tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the seventh as the Hounds loaded the bases, however the Cougar defense was able to get the final out to end the game 6-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- St. Cloud State went up 2-0 in the first inning. Morgan Emmans singled to score Abby Bunnell from third to take the lead 1-0. Shortly after Alyssa Coletto hit a single to score Rebecca Harps.

- in the top of the second, senior catcher Cassie Schultz (Amesbury, Mass./Amesbury) hit a double to drive in Stephanie Menard (Cranston, R.I. / Cranston HS West), cutting the lead in half.

- The Huskies extended their lead by two in the bottom of the fifth. An inning later, St. Cloud State scored its final run of the game. With the bases loaded, Jessica Goerger was hit by a pitch, which sent Libby Bingham to score. Assumption was unable to score in the seventh, providing the 4-1 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- In game one, Kendal Roy (Grafton, Mass./ Grafton) registered three strikeouts, while Menard and senior Ashley Clark (Pawtucket, R.I. / William E. Tolman) recorded doubles. 

- In game two, Courtney Oliva (Vernon, Conn. / Rockville) faced 31 batters and earned two strikeouts while Schultz tallied a double and an RBI.
