BASICS:

The Lead: Senior Ashley Clark (Pawtucket, R.I. / William E. Tolman) tallied her first home run of the season while junior Kendal Roy (Grafton, Mass./Grafton) pitched a shutout to lead the Hounds to a 6-0 victory over Bentley at Marois Field. 

HOW IT HAPPNED: 

- The Hounds jumped out to a quick lead in the first inning. Nicole Duplease (Leominster, Mass/ Leominster) hit a sacrifice fly to score senior Ashley Abad (Bedford, N.H. / Bedford), and the Hounds took advantage of a fielding error to start with a 2-0 lead. 

- In the fourth inning, with sophomore Julia Mazzeo (Milford, N.H./Milford) on base, Clark hit a home run to increase the Hound lead to 4-0. 

- Assumption scored its two final runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Freshman Kayla Peabody (Mendon, Mass. / Nipmuc Regional High School) pinch hit and singled to get on first to start the inning. Mazzeo singled to left field to advance Peabody to second, before Caitlin Mirabell (Shoreham, N.Y. / Shoreham-Wading River) reached on a fielders choice scoring Peabody and advancing Mazzeo to third to make the score 5-0. Abad hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Mazzeo and end the game at 6-0. 

- The Falcons had one last chance to come back in the top of the seventh, but Roy was impenetrable, shutting the door on Bentley and earning her seventh win of the season. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

- Roy registered five strikeouts and only allowed four hits facing 29 batters. Clark recorded a homerun and two RBI, while Mirabell, Abad, and Duplease each tallied one RBI. 

UP NEXT:

- This weekend the Hounds will host Saint Michael's at Marois Field at Starting at 2:00 pm on Friday in an NE10 conference matchup.
