-The Lead: The Assumption University women's soccer team fell to the Skyhawks of Stonehill College on the road in NE10 action on Tuesday night. The first half was scoreless before Stonehill netted the game-winner with just under 20 minutes to play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Assumption put the offensive pressure on, putting up 10 shots in the first half. Stonehill goalkeeper, Hanna Copley made six saves over the first 45 minutes to hold the game at 0-0. The Greyhounds saw a bid at scoring with back-to-back shots with just under two minutes to play in the first, but Copley made the stops to send the two teams into halftime scoreless.
-Stonehill broke the silence with a goal in the 70th minute of play. Emmy Dumaresq crossed the ball to Paige Marjanski on the left corner who put a shot to the upper right corner for the 1-0 victory.
-The Skyhawks outshot Assumption 15-10 in the second half. First year goalkeeper, Julia Walsh (Sand Diego, Calif.) made five stops in net for Assumption in the second half while Copley made seven saves in the last 45 minutes to preserve the shutout.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Stonehill edged Assumption 21-20 in total shots. Assumption put 13 shots on target while the Skyhawks only put seven shots on net.
-Assumption was awarded five corner kicks to Stonehill's two.
-Walsh made six saves in net for Assumption while Copley made 12 saves in the victory for Stonehill.
