WORCESTER, Mass. - The first NCAA Regional football rankings have been released, and Assumption University is one of three Northeast-10 teams under consideration in Super Region One. Assumption recently defeated American International College in a 24-7 victory on Saturday, Oct. 22.
RANKINGS
In addition to Assumption (5-2 overall, 4-1 NE10), the other NE10 schools include Bentley University (6-2, 4-1 NE10) and the University of New Haven (6-1, 4-0 NE10). New this year for NCAA Division II sports with regional rankings; schools will be listed as under consideration in alphabetical order for the first ranking of the season.
Assumption will host No. 25 New Haven on Saturday, October 29
th, at 1:00 pm. The Greyhounds head into Saturday's contest tied for second in the Northeast-10 Conference with Bentley.
The NE10, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC), the Mountain East Conference (MEC), and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) make up the 45-team NCAA Super Region One this season.
The Division II Football Championship provides for a maximum field of 28 teams. Twelve (12) first-round games will be conducted on the campus of one of the competing institutions. The top seed in each selection region (super region) will receive a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
