Caroline Mäder earns NE10 Sport Excellence Award for women's tennis

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Assumption University sophomore Caroline Mäder received Northeast 10 Conference Sport Excellence Award recognition for women's tennis, as announced Wednesday afternoon.

The Sport Excellence Award, which has been handed out since the 2009-10 season and is one of the most prestigious honors the NE10 bestows, is given to one top individual from each of the league's seven fall sports. Mäder is the 18th to earn the honor, including the second tennis player, joining Aubrey Lovejoy (2014-15).

Mäder finished her second year in Worcester with a 3.98 GPA while majoring in Psychology. She earned NE10 All-Conference Second Team at No. 2 singles and third team at No. 1 doubles. Mäder played strong at No. 2 singles for the Greyhounds this season, tallying a 13-3 record while going 3-0 at No. 1 singles, and went 14-4 at No. 1 doubles.

To be eligible for Academic All-Conference and Sport Excellence honors, a student-athlete must have started at least half of or played in two-thirds of all contests while making significant contributions and maintaining a 3.3 grade-point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale.
