Auburndale, Fla. -- The Assumption Greyhounds' Baseball team achieved a split on Sunday at the Auburndale Sports Complex, losing a heart-breaker in a 7-6 nonconference game against Bentley University before rebounding for a 7-2 victory over Concordia.
For the day, senior outfielder Blake Youngblood (East Freetown, MA/New Bedford) was four for nine, while junior second baseman Travis Smith (Coventry, RI/Bishop Hendricken) was three for nine with three RBI. Junior catcher Tim Quinn (Holden, MA/Saint John's) had three RBI, all against the Clippers of Concordia.
Junior pitcher Frank Flynn (Worcester, MA/St. Peter-Marian) was dominant against Concordia, pitching seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts.
Assumption is now 2-2 on the season, and will play Concordia again in tomorrow in a double-header.
