Colchester, Vt. -- The Assumption College baseball team swept its double-header at Saint Michael's on Sunday, winning game one, 10-5, and then game two, 12-4.
Sophomore infielder Shane Keddy (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Tech) went a combined five-for-seven with six RBI an a walk over those two games. Senior first baseman Drew Dombrowski (Southampton, Mass./Hampshire) went four-for-nine with four RBI. Senior outfielder Mike Foley (Worcester, Mass./Saint John 's) went four-four-eight. Junior pitcher Kevin Mayone (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) had a strong game two, with six strikeouts and only three earned runs in seven innings.
For the Purple Knights, junior Tim McDonnell (Durham, N.H./Oyster River) paced the offense with five hits, going five-fornine with two doubles and three runs scored. Sophomore Jacob Begnoche (Essex Jct., Vt./Essex/Univ. of Vermont) had four hits including two doubles, junior Chad Estey (New Haven, Vt./Mount Abraham Union) added three hits with a two-bagger, and freshman Alec Tice (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) went three-for-five in game one.
With these wins, Assumption climbs to 15-28 while Saint Michael's falls to 5-25. The Greyhounds are back in action on Tuesday as they head to A.I.C.
