Waltham, Mass. -- An 11th-inning RBI double to deep left center by senior right fielder Mike Foley (Worcester, Mass./Saint John 's), his fourth hit of the day, broke a 4-4 tie and lifted Assumption College to a 5-4 win over Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference baseball Friday afternoon at DeFelice Field.
The Greyhounds had a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth when the Falcons scored two runs. They would tie the game in the bottom of the seventh, on a sac fly by junior first baseman Lamarre Rey (Lynn/Pingree School). After both teams scored in the eighth inning to tie the game at five, the stage was set for Foley's ninth inning heroics.
Assumption improved to 18-28 overall and 9-15 NE-10 with its fifth straight win, while Bentley fell to 14-27 and 8-16 in conference. The Greyhounds take on the Warriors of Merrimack on Saturday in a double-header and will honor their graduating seniors in a ceremony before the first game.
