Box Score Worcester, Mass. (March 28) -- The Assumption College baseball team dropped its first divisional game of the season to The College of Saint Rose, 6-1, despite a 4-for-4 day from junior captain Shane Keddy (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Tech). Keddy finished a triple shy of the cycle, while improving his batting average to .500 on the season.
The Greyhounds fell behind 1-0, after starter Nick Peters (Natick, Mass./Catholic Memorial) hit two of the first three batters he faced, and loaded the bases, but escaped allowing one run in the frame.
Assumption tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth inning, when Keddy hit a fastball over the centerfield wall for his first home run of the season.
Peters ran into trouble in the top of the fifth, allowing four runs, but he finished the inning with Assumption trailing 5-1.
Saint Rose tacked on another run in the top of the sixth to extend the lead to five, 6-1, but The Assumption bullpen quieted the Golden Knight bats over the final three innings.
Bryan Carr worked six innings of one run ball to move to 1-1 on the season, as Saint Rose improved to 7-12 overall, while Peters took the loss to fall to 0-2, while Assumption falls to 6-8 on the season. The Greyhounds return to play on Thursday, March 29 as the team faces off against Stonehill College. The game will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Stonehill.
