Easton, Mass. (March 29) -- The Assumption College baseball team dropped a close matchup to Northeast-10 Conference opponent Stonehill College, 2-0, on Thursday night, despite a strong start by freshman Zack LaRosa (West Hartford, Conn./Conard). 

LaRosa scattered five hits over four innings of work, allowing one run while striking out two. Frank Flynn (Worcester, Mass./St. Peter-Marian) relieved the freshman, and worked 3.1, allowing three hits and one run.

The Greyhounds had couldn't figure out Stonehill starter Zach Soulier, who scattered five hits over 6.1 scoreless innings, before giving way to Jim Duff who pitched 2.2 perfect innings for the save.

Assumption falls to 6-9 on the season with the loss, while Stonehill improves to 15-9 with the victory.

The Greyhounds return to the field on Saturday, March 31 for a doubleheader against Southern Connecticut State University. The first game will be at 12 p.m. at Southern Connecticut.
