Leesburg, Florida (March 9) -- The Assumption College baseball team swept Northeast-10 Conference opponent Stonehill College in a doubleheader on Friday night by scores of 2-1 and 7-1 at the Pat Thomas Stadium.

Assumption got strong performances from each of its starters. In the first game, Ben Hastings (Norton, Mass./Norton) scattered five hits and one earned run over 6.1 innings, while striking out two to pick up the victory in the 2-1 game. Designated hitter Kelvin Sims (Manchester, Conn./East Catholic) had an RBI single in the first, while Nick Napoli (Medford, Mass./Boston College) drove in the game-winning run on a double in the fourth inning. Sophomore Cody Rocha (Fall River, Mass./B.M.C. Durfee) pitched got the final two outs of the game to pick up the save.

In the second game, Dan Bradley (Moodus, Conn./Nathan Hale Ray) pitched a complete game four-hitter, allowing a single run in the second inning before silencing the Skyhawks for the remainder of the game helping Assumption to a 9-1 victory. Holding a 2-1 lead heading into the fourth inning, the Greyhounds used a five-run inning to take control of the game.

Assumption moves to 3-4 on the season, and will wrap up its trip to Florida with a doubleheader against Bridgeport scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday in Ormond Beach, Florida.
