Springfield, Mass. (April 12) -- The Assumption College baseball team lost to American International College, 10-2, in a non-conference game at AIC Park on Thursday afternoon.

Assumption took 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI ground out by Michael Filice (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay CR), following a leadoff triple by centerfielder Ysander Figueroa (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Tech).

The Yellow Jackets took the lead back with two runs in the bottom of the frame, and would not relinquish the lead the rest of the way.

The Greyhounds cut into a four-run lead the top of the fourth inning on on a sacrifice fly by Joe Lopes (Warwick, R.I./Bishop Hendricksen), who drove in senior catcher Tim Quinn (Paxton, Mass./Saint John's) to cut the lead to three, 5-2.

AIC scored the final five run of the game for the 10-2 final. Assumption falls to 7-17 overall, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 11-15-1 on the season.

The Greyhounds return to action on Saturday, April 14, for a doubleheader against Adelphi University. The games are scheduled for 12 and 3 p.m.
