Box Score Worcester, Mass. (April 18) -- Junior leftfielder Nick Napoli (Medford, Mass./Boston College) hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to break the game open in a 10-2 final at Rocheleau Field on Wednesday afternoon.
The Greyhounds held a 4-2 lead heading into the bottom of the frame, when Napoli delivered some insurance with a two-out homer over the left field fence, his only hit of the day.
Senior third baseman Travis Smith (Coventry, R.I./Bishop Hendricksen) had a 3-for-5 day with a double and a triple in the win, while Ysander Figueroa (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Tech) had two hits in the game.
Assumption starting pitcher Frank Flynn (Worcester, Mass./Saint Peter Marian) worked five innings, allowing four hits and two runs, while striking out four to pick up his second victory of the season. The Greyhounds improve to 10-19 overall with the victory.
Matt Metcalf (Warwick, R.I./Bishop Hendricksen) worked three innings of three-hit baseball out of the bullpen, allowing no runs, before freshman Zack LaRosa (West Hartford, Conn./Conard) worked a scoreless ninth inning for the Greyhounds.
The Greyhounds will return to action on Thursday, April 19 against Saint Anselm College. The game will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Rocheleau Field.
