- The Lead: On Sunday evening at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, N.H., the Assumption College baseball team dropped a 9-1 final to No. 8 ranked Southern New Hampshire in game three of their three-game divisional series.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Penmen staked to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second before the Hounds answered with a single run in the top of the fourth. Junior Mike Coggeshall (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) reached on a one-out fielder's choice and eventually scored on an RBI single to right center from junior Jake Byrne (Grafton, Mass./Saint John's).

- After adding single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, the Penmen put up four runs in the seventh on three hits, highlighted by a two-RBI triple to right center from Derek Bauer.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- The Penmen outhit the Hounds by a 10-6 margin, while Assumption had two hits each from Byrne and senior catcher Tom Paine (Upton, Mass./Nipmuc Regional). Sean Webster was the offensive leader for the Penmen with a 3-for-4 performance.

- Sophomore Kyle Chudoba (Oxford, Conn./Oxford) took the loss for the Hounds to drop to 1-6 as he went five innings, giving up five hits with four earned runs, four walks and three strikeouts.

- Joe McCarthy improved to 3-1 in the win for the Penmen, going seven innings while scattering six hits with one run allowed, one walk and nine strikeouts.

UP NEXT:

- Assumption is back in action on Tuesday, April 19th as the Hounds travel to Stonehill for a divisional game beginning at 3:30 p.m. in Easton, Mass.
