- The Lead: On Sunday afternoon at Rocheleau Field, the Assumption College baseball team dropped a 4-1 final to No. 8 ranked Franklin Pierce University in the final game of their three-game divisional series over the weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Ravens took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first as they put together three hits in the frame that was highlighted by a two-RBI single through the right side by Jay Jabs. Assumption answered in the bottom of the inning as freshman Hunter Tralli (Berlin, Conn./Northwest Catholic) laced a one-out triple to left center and later scored on a fielder's choice by sophomore Andrew Jaehnig (Quincy, Mass./Boston College).

- Assumption starting pitcher Tom Horstkotte (Milford, Mass./Saint John's) made a barehanded play on a bouncer up the middle by Chris Stanford to end the third inning.

- The score remained at 3-1 until the top of the ninth, where the Ravens pushed across an unearned run for the 4-1 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Horstkotte fell to 3-4 with the loss as he went seven innings and gave up five hits, three runs and struck out three. Senior Anthony Perry (Shrewsbury, Mass./Saint John's) pitched the final two innings in relief, giving up just two hits with one run (no earned runs) and striking out two.

- Tanner Bird picked up the win to improve to 6-0 as he went 3.2 innings, giving up just three hits. Dylan Dennis came in for the final two innings and earned the save for the Ravens.

- Assumption is back in action on Tuesday, April 26th as the Hounds host the University of Bridgeport for a non-conference game beginning at 3:30 p.m.
