-The Lead: The Assumption University baseball team took two victories over the Skyhawks of Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference action on the road on Saturday afternoon. The Hounds put up seven hits and nine runs in game one and shut out Stonehill in game two to improve to 4-4 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-After two scoreless innings Assumption put a run on the board in the top of the third. Sophomore Emilio Acosta (Cromwell, Conn. / East Catholic High) earned the RBI with a double to left center that scored junior Connor Wironen (Leominster, Mass. / Saint Bernard's).
-The Skyhawks tied the game in the bottom of the sixth when sophomore Blaine Lidsky reached on an error by the Hounds and his classmate Conor Kiely scored, unearned.
-Assumption opened up the game with six runs in the top of the seventh. With two outs on the board, graduate student Derek Adamson (Chelmsford, Mass. / Chelmsford) singled to score senior Dillon Zona (Shrewsbury, Mass. / Shrewsbury) for the 2-1 lead. Graduate student Matt Lonardo (Cranston, RI / Cranston) walked in Acosta and junior Jake Hamel (Uxbridge, Mass. / Saint John's) put up two RBIs with a single to right field that sent graduate student Matt Schneider (Dalton, Mass. / Wahconah Regional) and Adamson across home plate (5-1). His classmate, Jared Brescia (Brentwood, N.H. / Exeter) singled to right to score Lonardo and Hamel scored on a wild pitch for the 7-1 lead.
-The Hounds added two more in the top of the eighth with RBIs from Lonardo and Hamel. Stonehill was able to put one more run across home plate, unearned, before the Hounds clinched the 9-2 final victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Zona led the Hounds at the plate going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one run scored.
-Kiely led Stonehill going 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
-Junior Patrick Harrington (Bedford, N.H. / Bedford) earned the win on the mound for Assumption and improves to 1-1 this season. He pitched three innings and struck out six batters.
-Sophomore Brendan Kelly falls to 0-1 in 0.2 innings pitched for Stonehill. Junior Luke Marshall pitched the opening six innings for the Skyhawks and struck out nine batters.
-Assumption finished game one with seven hits while Stonehill put up six.
Game #2: Assumption 4, Stonehill 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Assumption scored three runs in the top of the second inning. Lonardo led off with a homerun to left field for the 1-0 lead. Hamel got on base by a walk and later scored on a passed ball (2-0). Wironen earned an RBI with a single through the right side that scored Zona, unearned, for the 3-0 advantage.
-After three scoreless innings the Hounds put up their fourth and final run of the game in the top of the sixth. Graduate student R.J. Libby (Middleton, Mass. / Bishop Fenwick) sent an RBI single to left field that scored Wironen for the 4-0 final victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Lonardo finished 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI and one run scored for the Hounds. Wironen went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.
-Assumption finished with five hits in game two while Stonehill put up seven hits.
-Senior Brendan Desautels (Holden, Mass. / Holy Name Central Catholic) improves to 2-0 on the season. He pitched 6.1 innings and struck out nine batters for the Hounds.
-Junior Jonathan Rice falls to 1-2 on the season as he went five innings and struck out six batters for the Skyhawks.

-Assumption is back at Stonehill on Sunday, April 11th. They take on the Skyhawks for two more NE10 contests starting at 12:00 p.m.
