-The Lead: The Assumption University baseball team earned two wins over the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday afternoon. The Hounds took game on at Rocheleau Field, 2-1 and put up 12 hits in game two at Polar Park for a 10-5 victory. Assumption split the four-game series with SNHU 2-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-After one-two-three innings for both the Penmen and the Greyhounds, the visitors scored the first run of the game in the top of the second. Junior Dakota Mulcay led off with a walk and advanced to second on a walk by first year Dylan O'Sullivan. Junior Idelson Teveras earned an RBI with a single to center that scored Mulcay from second for the 1-0 lead.
-After three and a half scoreless innings, Assumption rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth to claim the 2-1 final victory. Graduate student Jared Brescia (Brentwood, N.H. / Exeter) led off and got on base when he was hit by the first pitch. Junior Connor Wironen (Leominster, Mass. / Saint Bernard's) walked to move Berscia to second and graduate student Matt Lonardo (Cranston, RI / Cranston / URI) moved the runners with a sacrifice bunt. His classmate Derek Adamson (Chelmsford, Mass. / Chelmsford) earned both RBIs with a single down the left field line that scored Brescia and Wironen for the 2-1 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Adamson led the Hounds at the plate going 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Graduate student Matt Schneider (Dalton, Mass. / Wahconah Regional) added Assumption's only other hit of the game.
-Taveras went 1-for-3 with one RBI to lead the Penmen.
-Sophomore Jack Choate (North Grafton, Mass. / Westborough) earned the victory on the mound for Assumption and improves to 2-1 on the season. He pitched all seven innings, struck out 12 batters and allowed just three hits.
-Graduate student Nick Artymowics falls to 5-1 on the mound for SNHU. He pitched all six innings, struck out four batters and allowed two hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hounds took an early lead putting up two hits and two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Wironen led off with a double down the left field line and Lonardo got on base by a walk. Schneider earned the first RBI with a double to left field that scored Wironen (1-0).
-Graduate student R.J. Libby (Middleton, Mass. / Bishop Fenwick) was intentionally walked and first year Jared Berardino (Rowley, Mass. / Triton Regional) earned an RBI with a sacrifice fly to right field to score Lonardo for the 2-0 lead.
-With one out on the board Schneider homered over the left field wall to put the Hounds up 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning.
-Assumption exploded for six runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull ahead 9-0. Wironen and Lonardo were both walked and Adamson reached on a fielder's choice to put Wironen of third. Schneider walked to load the bases and Libby walked in the first run of the inning for the 4-0 advantage. After a pitching change made by SNHU, Berardino doubled down the left field line for two RBIs when Schneider and Adamson crossed home (6-0). With two outs on the board Zona sent a two-RBI single to left field to score Berardino and Libby for the 8-0 lead. Zona scored on an RBI single up the middle by Wironen as Assumption took the 9-0 advantage at the end of six.
-Libby put a rocket over the right field wall in the bottom of the fifth for the 10-0 lead.
-After a pitching change for Assumption, the Penmen came alive with three runs in the top of the eighth inning. First year Danniel Rivera led off with a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. His classmate Christian Mercedes joined him on base with a walk. Graduate student Marcus Chavez earned two RBIs with a long triple to center that scored Rivera and Mercedes, 10-2. Chaves scored on a wild pitch, and after another pitching change by the Hounds, sophomore Matthew Crisci pinch hit and singled to left field. He scored on a single to right center by first year Cam Carher (10-4). Sophomore Bryce Reagan doubled to left to score Carher as the Penmen trailed by five heading into the bottom of the eighth, 10-5.
-Senior Andrew Moccia (Lynn, Mass. / Lynn Classical) earned the final out in the top of the eighth and all three outs in the top of the ninth to secure the 10-5 victory for the Hounds.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS.
-Berardino led Assumption at the plate in game two, going 3-for-3, including one double, with three RBIs and one run scored. Schneider finished 2-for-4 with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs scored. The Hounds finished game two with 12 hits.
-Caraher led the Penmen going 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored in the setback. SNHU put up 11 hits in game two.
-Sophomore Shea Ryan (North Chelmsford, Mass. / Chelmsford) earned the win on the mound for the Hounds. He pitched seven innings, struck out one batter, allowed seven hits and no runs scored. Ryan improves to 1-1 on the season.
-First year Nick Assad falls to 0-1 on the season as he pitched 2.1 innings for the Penmen, giving up three hits, three runs scored and striking out two batters.
