The Greyhounds carried over their momentum from their two-game road trip. Going back to September 24th, they beat Pace University 26-14 and followed that up with a 28-14 win vs. Southern Connecticut State University. Assumption mirrored their performance against the Owls with another exact score of 28-14. It's two straight weeks in Worcester now, back on Assumption's campus on October 15th with a tough test against Bentley, who is 2-1 in the conference as well, having only lost to the defending champions in the University of New Haven.
Â
The history of these two sides has heavily favored the Falcons. They are 6-29 all-time against Assumption. From 1988-2005, Bentley won 18 straight games against the Greyhounds. The last ten matchups have been deadlocked, tied up at five a piece. Last year, the game was in Waltham at Bentley Field, where the Falcons won 48-23.
Jake Cady and Steven Bucciagi split activity for Assumption, completing 13 out of 24 passes combined. They also combined for 130 yards while Bucciagi threw two touchdowns. The largest offensive force came on the ground through
Khaleed Exum-Strong with 119 yards rushing with one touchdown.
Jack Murmes was the top receiver on the day, grabbing three receptions for 47 yards with two touchdowns.
Â
Last year, the Falcons had a fantastic season. They finished 7-1 in conference and 9-2 overall, even getting selected for the NCAA Championships, where they lost to the University of New Haven 38-13. Their only conference loss of the year came against New Haven, losing 31-14, allowing New Haven to capture the Northeast-10 championship while ending Bentley's win streak at 13. They beat Assumption twice last season.
