Waltham, Mass. – The Assumption University baseball team dropped the final game of their four game series against the Bentley Falcons on Monday afternoon by a score of 10-3. A trio of runs in the early innings for the hosts kept their lead comfortable as they took the season series from the Greyhounds.

Assumption plated two runs in the first thanks to a Jared Berardino (Rowley, Mass.) 2 RBI double to give the visitors an early lead for James McNamara (Westford, Mass.) but it was short lived as the Falcons scored three in the bottom half of the first. Cory Bright had the big blow in the inning clearing the bases with a 3 RBI double to center to give the hosts the lead and they never looked back. 

Bright added another RBI in the third when he hit a single through the left side to bring home another run and then Liam Sears followed with a 2 RBI double to center field to push the Bentley lead to 6-2. 

The Falcons would add three more runs in the fifth on a pair of defensive errors by the Greyhounds. The first would be a ground ball that was mishandled at third base, bringing home one run and the following would come from a dropped fly ball in center field brought home two more runs to push the score to 9-2. Bentley would add another run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly before Assumption would add a run in the ninth when Owen Podolec (Berwick, Maine) grounded into a fielder's choice bringing home Eric Preston to create the 10-3 final. 

James McNamara would go four innings for Assumption while taking the loss, allowing six runs on six hits allowing three walks while striking out one. Sean Mahan would get the win for Bentley going six innings allowing two runs on six hits while walking two and striking out four. 

Assumption is back in action on Wednesday, April 20 when they face American International College in a non conference matchup. First pitch is set for 3:30pm.
