WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University Football team is just over one week into their preseason, but the polls are starting to roll in. After being picked to finished second in the Northeast-10 Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll, the Greyhounds were just ranked No. 23 nationally, according to the American Football Coaches Association.

Last season, Assumption (8-3, 6-1 NE10) averaged 22.1 points per game and defeated their opponents by an average of 7.5 points. Northeast-10 Coach of the Year,
Andy McKenzie's Greyhounds ranked in the top ten nationally in Team Passing Efficiency Defense (3rd – 91.25), Total Defense (5th – 237.0), 3rd Down Defense (5th – 0.253), First Down Offense (6th – 152), Rush Defense (8th – 73.5), and Scoring Defense (8th – 14.6).
This season, the Greyhounds will take on three teams who are either ranked or are receiving votes. Assumption will begin the year with a home contest against RV Kutztown University on Sept. 2 before heading to No. 3 Grand Valley State University for Week Three. The Hounds will travel to West Haven, Conn., to take on RV University of New Haven on Oct. 28.
