WORCESTER, Mass. - Each week for the remainder of the spring, the Northeast-10 Conference will honor the seniors from two programs as the "Teams of the Week", for each player's dedication to their program and teammates. The Assumption baseball team was recognized this week alongside the Yellow Jackets of American International College.
Head Coach Mike Rocco on seniors Derek Adamson (Chelmsford, Mass. / Chelmsford), Kyle Autilio (Saugus, Mass. / Saugus), Jared Brescia (Brentwood, N.H. / Exeter), Ryan Graham (East Bridgewater, Mass. /East Bridgewater), R.J. Libby (Middleton, Mass. / Bishop Fenwick), Matt Lonardo (Cranston, RI / Cranston / URI), Joe Michael (Johnston, R.I. / Johnston Senior CCRI), Manny PegueroMelo (Boston, Mass. Xaverian), Matt Schneider (Dalton, Mass. / Wahconah Regional), and graduate students Philip Gaines (Cambridge, Mass. / Cambridge Rindge & Latin), and TJ Masella (Northborough, Mass. / Our Lady of Lourdes): "I am so unbelievably proud of and heartbroken for this group. These young men have been phenomenal leaders in the Assumption community and I will always be grateful for their contributions to the program. They have gone above and beyond in every aspect of the title 'student-athlete'. They have helped to set a new standard for what it means to be a member of the Assumption baseball program, and that is what I will probably remember most about them."
Season Recap
The Greyhounds were 5-8-1 in the 2020 season prior to the cancellation of spring sports, playing all of their games in North Carolina or Florida to open the year. Assumption finished play with a win over Bridgeport on March 12. Matt Schneider hit .324 at the plate to lead all Greyhounds this season, while adding three homers (tied for a team-high) and 11 RBI (second on the team). In four appearances on the mound, Ryan Graham posted a 3.38 ERA in eight innings of work with a 10-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
