Box Score

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Assumption University men's lacrosse team concluded its spring break trip to Florida with a 17-8 loss to Lynn on Saturday afternoon.

The first quarter was close, as Lynn jumped out to a 2-0 advantage before the Greyhounds responded with two goals of their own. However, the Fighting Knights ended the opening frame ahead 3-2 by getting a goal from Connor Koppelman with six seconds left to get an edge.

Lynn (1-3) used the momentum to score a quick goal in the opening minute of the second quarter and maintained a slight lead throughout the frame. Caleb Wells finished a pass from Xander Cosenza to give the Fighting Knights an 8-5 advantage at halftime.

In the third quarter, the hosts took control of the game and outshot the Greyhounds by a commanding 15-3 margin. Freshman Cameron Theriault (Westfield, Mass.) and junior Nolan Sheehan (Potomac, Md.) each found the back of the net to bring the visitors within three on two occasions, but the Fighting Knights would never surrender the lead. Lynn closed out the game on a 7-1 run to record its first win of the season.

Casey earned the win between the pipes by making eight saves for Lynn, which outshot the Greyhounds, 44-27 and had a 29-16 advantage in ground balls. Sophomore Colin Malone (East Patchogue, N.Y.) stopped 18 shots in the loss.

Assumption (0-2) will next visit Felician on Wednesday afternoon at 12 p.m.
