Box Score Waltham, Mass.- The Assumption University baseball team kicked off their four game series on the road in Waltham with a 9-2 over the Falcons of Bentley University. Backed behind a complete game effort from Patrick Harrington, the Hounds hitters continued to be relentless in their offensive approach. Scoring runs early in the first inning and adding a five run fourth inning helped the Greyhounds secure their fourth conference win in a row.
The bats for Assumption took no time to get going as they scored two runs in the top of the first on an RBI triple from Emilio Acosta (Cromwell, Conn.) followed by an RBI single from Cody Smith (Holden, Mass.). The Falcons got one run back in the second on a Tony Gonzalez RBI groundout to make it 2-1 Assumption early on.
Assumption put up five runs in the fourth to give Harrington some breathing room, highlighted by a Jake Hamel (Uxbridge, Mass.) 2 run double and Hamel would later score on a wild pitch. Jack Barry (Bridgewater, Mass.) would follow with a 2 out 2 run single to left to push the Greyhounds lead to 7-1. Harrington would make quick work of the Falcons, setting them down in order from innings four through six with four strikeouts in that span.
Bentley would add a run in the home half of the seventh with an RBI groundout from Eddy Beauregard, but Assumption would add two runs in the ninth on a Christopher Rabias (Chelmsford, Mass.) RBI double and a RBI single from Sean Moynihan (Middleton, Mass.). Harrington would work around a 2 out single and get a groundout to end the ballgame, with his final line consisting of nine innings pitched, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and striking out seven. With the complete game effort Harrington improved his record to 4-1. Marc Cedrone would take the loss for the Falcons, pitching four innings, allowing seven runs on eleven hits, walking three and striking out two.
