Charlie Aleksiewicz `65 was a two-sport athlete in baseball and basketball, playing each for all four years. Finishing with 222 points in basketball, he was a first baseman on the baseball and was the winner of the first Desautels Award in 1965. He served on the Hall of Fame Committee for a number of years and is currently the Director of Alumni Relations at the Bancroft School. He also founded the boy’s basketball program at the Bancroft School in 1972. Since 2003, Aleksiewicz has served as the director of the Worcester Partnership Program, which is an academic enrichment program with the Elm Park Community School and the Bancroft School. In his role with the Worcester Partnership Program, he coordinates academic program development and fundraising efforts for inner-city children from Elm Park Community School. He is also responsible for hiring staff, reviewing quality and overseeing the growth of all functions.

A lifelong member of the education community, Aleksiewicz held a number of positions at Assumption following his graduation in 1965. From 1969-72, he served as the head soccer coach, assistant varsity and head junior varsity basketball coach and head track and field coach. He also served as the director of intramurals and as a physical education teacher. Charlie currently resides in Worcester with his wife, Mary. The couple has two daughters, Kerri Melley and Kathleen Aleksiewicz.
